Day4 - Georgetown Again

Finally made it into Georgetown again today for the trip to the embassy and for some shopping before we leave the city tomorrow. The embassy visit was less then underwhelming. Vince and I were kept in a waiting room and didn't actually get to speak to another Canadian. They took our names, gave us a number and told us to call when we get our addresses.

The rest of the trip was great. Vince and I ate chinese for lunch and had excellent food that cost us about 2.50 Canadian for fish ball soup and chow mein. After lunch we met up with some others and walked through the market. The market is packed and is everything you would expect from a market in the third world, crowded and busy. We finally got to buy some fruit so I bought some sweet bananas, pineapple, and an avocado. All of them were superior to anything that we can get at home.

For dinner tonight we travelled to our field director Nancy's house for pizza and beer. The pizza was ordered from Pizza Hut and was pretty good. My favorite was the hotdog and pineapple pizza. After taht we took an early night because we have to be up at 5 tomorrow for the ferry to Bartica.
